Moritz Trading Limited has strengthened its position as one of Ireland's leading builders' providers and retail DIY suppliers by acquiring C&D Builders Providers in Wexford in a deal reported to be worth in excess of €20 million.
C&D Builders Providers is one of the leading suppliers of building materials, timber, DIY and garden products in the South-East region with an annual turnover in the region of €30 million. It has been operating since 1976 and currently employs 110 staff with two stores in Wexford town and one in Arklow.
The acquisition has increased the turnover of Moritz Trading Ltd. to €74 million per annum and doubled staff numbers to 200, resulting in it being a dominant force in the sector having completed four strategic acquisitions since July 2005.
"We are delighted to complete this acquisition as part of a strategy to establish a countrywide presence in the builders' providers and retail DIY/home improvement markets. C&D Builders Providers is a vibrant business and we saw significant opportunity to develop the business alongside our existing businesses,' said Sean Moran, Managing Director of Moritz Trading Limited.
The company's other acquisitions have included P.H. Ross. Ltd., acquired in July 2005, Commons Hardware Ltd., Navan in April of 2006, T.J. O'Mahony & Sons Ltd, in March 2007 and most recently, the franchise agreement with Wickes.
Mr. Moran revealed that Moritz Trading Ltd. had no plans to change the trading name of the businesses that it has acquired. Brand development will be concentrated on the retail DIY end of the business focusing on the promotion and development of the Wickes brand in Ireland.
